Conceptual Design is to include the designer as element in the solution space. This may sound trivial, however brings a revolutionary turn in design paradigms; it encourages the designer to attack and resolve blocks in association chains, and thus speeds up the learning within the problem solving process.
This in contrast to the "double loop" learning as introduced by Argyle. Though it has meant a lot for the dynamics in for instance metacognition during gaming and simulations, it is too slow really for real-time collaborative design processes. Conceptual design brings the designers in the loop of induction/deduction.
